Bromley, Bromley, Greater London BR1
Ride is Full
We will meet at Bromley South Station and cycle to Croydon to meet the Vintage Cars as they drive through the area on the A23 and this is where we will team up with other cycling groups for the ride down to Madeira Drive, Brighton with these beautiful old cars. Please do not be late, this will be a long day and we do not wish to delay the start.
Last year the Scouts or a similar organisation had set up a bacon sarnie and tea stall (with toilets) about 20 miles into the ride, this is a regular feature so we will have a mid morning refuel stop here. There will be a stop for lunch either at Crawley or nearby. Please bring a picnic if you wish. At the Brighton end of the ride there is a route that we used last year which avoided Clayton Hill and I will use this route again.
This is a longish ride (c.60 miles) but the pace will be steady, there will also be opportunities for those who wish to cycle faster to team up with other quicker cyclists and then we can all regroup for a coffee or something a little strong on Brighton Pier. How much fun is that on a Sunday in November?
The return journey is by train, although some real hardcore cyclists just turn their bikes around and cycle straight back again, there are regular services back to East Croydon and Central London.
- spare tubes
- tools to get your wheels off
- and a sense of fun.
