Hayes Ln, Bromley BR2 9EF
Why not start the new year as you you mean to go on. Don’t just lie there festering and clutching your sore head. Throw back the blankets grab a quick breakfast, haul yer bike out of the back of the shed where you last dumped it and come and join Greenwich Cyclists for a gentle hangover buster to Tower Bridge.
We will meet in Bromley and cycle up the Waterlink Way to Cutty Sark Gardens, for a 10.00 am rendezvous with our friends from Greenwich Cyclists for their first ride of the year.
Although in previous years the Greenwich New Year’s Day ride destination has traditionally been Erith, that is not practical at the moment as the Thames Path has been closed again due to construction in East Greenwich.
So this year, they’ll lead us under the Foot Tunnel then westwards along the north bank of the river, southwards over Tower Bridge returning to Greenwich through Rotherhithe, Bermondsey and Deptford. This route will pass by the site of planned pedestrian/cycling bridge over the Thames which we could reflect on as we ride. Lots of off-road and suitable for all, we’ll wait for everyone. We expect to be back at Cutty Sark Gardens before 3.00 pm and plan to stop somewhere for refreshments but do bring your own snack if you prefer.
Please also bring
spare inner tube,
any remaining good cheer
an open mind.
