We will meet up at the start point (which will be in the borough and will be emailed to all successful registrants on Friday) and cycle to the Dartford River Crossing c.10-15 mls.

We will then call for the tunnel staff to get us over the river. We will probably ring ahead, we understand that they can carry 5 bikes with riders at a time.

This crossing at its quickest will be an hour and probably nearer 1½. So we will treat this as our main stop for the day. In which case you may decide to bring bring some lunch with you, as I am not sure what will be available for purchase at the tunnel pick up and drop off points.

Once safely grouped on the north side we ride to and through the Rainham Marshes RSPB reserve (where will probably not stop at their very nice visitor centre), and onwards to the cable car at the excel centre c.16 mls. This will afford the opportunity to have a second stop for the day.

We cross by cable car so please bring some money to cover this (c.£5), once back on the south side of the river we cycle to the Cutty Sark and then join the Waterlink for the final 10 miles homewards.

Please bring spare inner tubes and tools to get your wheels off. I do recommend bringing some sort of picnic type lunch. Weather appears to be variable so I suggest that you have some wet weather kit with you.

Because of the logistics at the Dartford Crossing places on this ride are limited, so if once you have registered you find you are not able to attend it would be helpful if you could email to let us know to assist in the management of numbers.

It’s difficult to calculate the time for the ride but I suggest that we shall be back no earlier than 5 pm and it could be as late as 6 pm.
