Working with community groups and local government to make London a world-class cycling
city.
1. Why cycle?
- to have fun
- to improve your health: (see what BUPA has to say about cycling)
- to expand your leisure
- to enhance your well-being
- to re-charge your fitness
- to enlarge your circle of friends
- to commute more efficiently
- to do something for the environment
- for personal economy
2. Take that once-loved bicycle out of the shed and do an ABC check:
- Air: tyres pumped hard
- Brakes: check they hold, front & rear
- Control: hold front wheel firmly between knees & try to turn handlebars
3. Consider wearing:
- clothing that cannot get tangled in spokes or chain
- a helmet
- suitable clothing for the weather - padded shorts are well worth it and can be concealed
under something else
- gloves to protect the hands, shades or specs to protect the eyes
4. Come along to an organised ride or special event with Bromley Cyclists, led by
experienced cyclists at the pace of the slowest rider (see What’s On and What to
Take)
