Adam’s Challenge Ride 4

Over 40 of us today met in Hayes for the start of the longest ride yet of Adam’s Challenges and I think the hilliest.

Meeting at Hayes at the beginning of today's ride

We split into two groups and were soon heading up Layhams Road towards Tatsfield where we encountered endless hills.   Just when we thought we were at our highest point we did a really long downhill, so we knew what was coming next, yes more uphill.

The longest climb of the day must have been up Toy’s Hill, not particularly steep but very long and well done to everyone for making it to the top.

At the top at last

Then a lovely downhill run down Ide Hill as we made our way towards Brasted and ultimately Dunton Green.  From here it was on to Shoreham before tackling the last big hill of the day back up to the A21, Shacklands Road.

From here we headed back to Hayes, almost missing the rain mid afternoon.

Many thanks to Adam and our ride leaders today, hopefully now everyone feels suitably trained and ready to tackle the Brighton ride in May.   Don’t forget to let Adam know if you intend to ride to Brighton so that he has a good idea of numbers. adam@bigfootbikeclub.org
