So the weather forecast for next week isn’t so good but today was a fantastic day for a bike ride and a total of 37 people seemed to agree with this and turned up for our rides at Norman Park! Bright sunshine and a gentle cooling breeze making almost perfect cycling conditions.

Today we did an easy, steady and strong ride and split into groups of 15 easy, 9 steady and 13 strong.
The strong ride which included some real youngsters headed down to the Sampan at Cudham and then did a bit of sightseeing across the valley at top of the abyss aka Hogtrough Hill before returning to Norman Park; a ride of about 17 miles.
The steady ride went along the quiet route to Cator Park before a visit to Beckenham Place Park for tea, coffee and even some cake at the golf course. This gave the opportunity for riders to see the beginning of our bit of the Waterlink Way; distance ridden about 13 miles.
The easy ride went to Petts Wood for a coffee in Costa. After that they ventured a little further south onto the traffic free paths across Bromley Common and back to the start; about 9½ miles.
There was a real buzz amongst the riders today. Some were old hands whilst others were on their first ride with us having only graduated from the training session laid on by the council just last Saturday. But all riders were very much there for each other and encouraged each other when the going got a bit tough which made for a really great atmosphere. One young mum who came on foot with her son last week-end had got her daughters bike out and come as a cyclist this week. How fantastic is that.
From a ride leaders point of view these were three great rides filled with people who were up for some fun and wanted to make it good for everyone else too; thank you riders it was a real pleasure to take you for bike ride. We hope to see you all again in the very near future so don’t forget to check back to this site for our other rides.
