What a fabulous day for cycling. Nine of us met at Norman Park this morning, slightly fewer than usual which is surprising given it was such lovely weather.
It was nice to welcome some new cyclists today as well as a few old faces we haven’t seen for some time. We set off at an easy pace up to Jubilee Park and then on through the Crofton Estate. Then it was down past Orpington Station before cutting through Tower Road and turning right to Green Street Green. There really needs to be better provision for cyclists along this busy road.
We were now on the look out for somewhere for our coffee stop and not disappointed we found a lovely cafe just past Waitrose and we sat outside in the sunshine chatting for twenty minutes while we drank our coffee.
Then we cut through to the A21 and cycled back up alongside the A21 before branching off through the Brakespeare Estate and on through Farnborough Park where we picked up a little path which took us all the way back to Princes Plain, thereby avoiding the busy roads. We left a few people along the way as they branched off on their way home and arrived back at Norman Park just after twelve o’clock.
Thanks to John and Eve for leading todays ride and hope to see you all at the end of October (if not before) for our Daylight Saving Ride.
