New Style Lorry

Last weekend at the Bike Show at the Excel I sat in one of the new design lorries with Sergeant Simon Castle from the Met Police Transport Command. Simon said these new lorries are now approved for production. The new cab style allows improved vision for the driver.

The Lorries should be rolling off production lines in the near future and hopefully responsible hauliers will be replacing their old monsters with newer versions. You can see from the picture that the cab has more in common with the traditional dustcart, it has slightly reduced capacity, but hopefully the operators will be able to benefit from reduced insurance premiums which will encourage then to buy these safer more cycle-friendly vehicles.
