A very enjoyable ride with Greenwich Cyclists. Thanks to Sarah & Ian and others. Sarah has even been kind enough to write the ride report:
A very impressive 25 at Cutty Sark Gardens including ten who came on a feeder ride from Bromley Cyclists. Two were there just to see us off so 23 riders carried their bikes down the stairs at the south end of the foot tunnel as the lift wasn’t working. We’d all taken on fuel in the form of chocolate rolls and raisins provided by John Phillips. The north lift was working so we reconvened north of the river and struck out west. An uneventful trip through Docklands and along the north side of the river avoiding any broken glass which seems to indicate outdoor parties on New Year’s Eve.
We arrived at a welcome, welcoming and efficient café in St Katharine’s Dock for a refreshment break. When we were all rehydrated and had a comfort break, one left to go to Tate Modern and the others came south over Tower Bridge. We returned eastwards on the south bank. There had been the possibility of a mulled wine pit stop at a fellow cyclist’s in Rotherhithe which didn’t quite materialise for various reasons mostly to do with me forgetting things. I believe we lost one rider to the Dog & Bell but all others, including a 10 year old, arrived safely back at Cutty Sark Gardens just after 1.00 pm feeling great for having New Year’s Day exercise. No punctures and one slipped chain. Apologies that I couldn’t muster up any mulled wine and also for the key emergency. Thank you all for your support, hope you enjoyed yourselves. Happy Cycling in 2018.
