Many of you will have known Steve; some via work, some as the guy to call when your bike fell to bits, some for his infectious sense of adventure and optimism and some because he was a genuinely ‘just a really nice bloke to know’.
However, many of us remember his legendary Ride Leader Skills for Bromley Cyclists – leading on numerous memorable rides such as Whitstable, the Viking Trail, the Hoo Peninsular and many more wonderful, funny, exciting, never boring, adventures we shared and enjoyed with him.
So, a group of his friends have decided it would be a fitting tribute to do a ride in his memory, whilst at the same time hoping to raise some money for St. Christopher’s Hospice, who were a great support to Steve and his family.
Therefore, as it was one of Steve’s favourite rides, we have decided to do the Viking Trail. The plan so far is to meet on Saturday 21st April 2018 at approximately 10.30 to commence this 32 mile ride. It will be quite a slow ride with numerous stops for tea and cake, and then lunch, and then probably more tea and cake (again two of Steve’s favourite things riding his bike and eating cake)! Further details will be posted nearer the time as at this stage we cannot guarantee train times. There is no need to book for this ride. All we ask is, if you wish to join us you make a contribution to this very worthwhile charity.
A few friends are planning to stay Saturday night after the ride at a local campsite for an evening of nostalgia, reminiscing and doing what Steve would have enjoyed most of all sharing time, laughing and raising a glass or two with friends.
This is not a Bromley Cyclists event but we are posting it as we know many people knew Steve and as such you would be more than welcome to join us on this ride.
You can add this ride to you diary by visiting the event page here.
