A consultation on tow-path use is being conducted by the Canal & River Trust with a view to introducing a code of conduct for users and will close on Friday 2 May – the Trust is running an online survey to canvass the views of those who use the paths along the waterways of England and Wales.
There is little doubt that cyclists are high on the list of tow-path users who are considered problematic and this is an opportunity to ensure that we have some input into the measures proposed.
This is an important subject for cyclists generally and we should ensure our voice is heard. The Bromley Cyclists’ regular St Albans & Lea River Ride might be affected for instance, likewise our use of the Waterlink Way and the Surrey Canal Towpath (although I suspect these are outside the remit of this survey).
Please visit the website and consider completing the survey (which is rather lengthy and time consuming)
