Another Tracey masterpiece.
Eleven of us were involved in today’s adventure on a beautiful clean crisp winter day. There was scarcely a zephyr to rustle the few remaining leaves clinging onto the trees and shrubs. The bright winter sun, low on the horizon even at midday at this time of the year did little to warm us. But the sensible pace kept our blood flowing as we made our way through West Wickham and Croydon where we joined the Wandle gentle flooding towards the Thames at Wandsworth. The paths were packed with walkers enjoying the lovely weather. We stopped for a morning coffee near a beautiful historic building which we were informed was called Carew House.
Lunch was by the pond in Battersea Park where we spotted a magnificent Heron sitting on the railings.
We continued alongside the river into Central London and then returned to Bromley via Quietway 1, The Surrey Canal towpath and the Waterlink Way pausing only very briefly at The Ivy House for a comfort break.
This was a wonderful outing in great company. This is a taster ride report, see Eve’s blog for the full account.
