As usual we met  at Bromley South Station at 7.30 for our weekly ride.  Again the girls outnumbered the boys as nine of us set off in the direction of West Wickham.  John was leading tonight so we knew there would be the odd alleyway, shortcut or tunnel somewhere along the way.

Not wrong there then as we made our way through the alleyway at the side of the Richmal Compton pub, emerging in Westmoreland Road, before heading for Hayes via the back roads.  Once through Hayes we headed straight for West Wickham.   Cutting through a few traffic free paths we soon found ourselves crossing the tramline and cycling alongside the Croydon Sports Arena before heading for Elmers End.  Somewhere along the way we went through a rather low tunnel as we heard shouts from the front of ‘mind your heads’, I wonder who that was!

Just a few short hills as we veered past Beckenham at which point electric Tim came into his own.  Around 13.5 miles tonight but a really enjoyable ride, ending up at the Freelands Tavern around 9.15 for a drink and a catch up with friends.   People drifted off home at varying intervals and I finally made my way back to Jubilee Park and home with Tony and Tim.  Another enjoyable evening and for anyone wishing to join us, just turn up at Bromley South next Wednesday at 7.30, with your bike of course.
