The Wheatsheaf – West Wickham

The Wednesday weekly wander this week took us to the Wheatsheaf in West Wickham (is this a competition to find out how many words beginning with W can be fitted into a single sentence).

We headed North through Shortlands and Beckenham to Penge. We then went through the tiny tunnel to South Norwood and through Croydon Football Club. Crossing the tram line behind the golf driving range we cycled past the Bethlem Hospital to West Wickham High Street.

On arrival at the Wheatsheaf we were made welcome in the bar, which was largely deserted, unfortunately there was a distinct lack of cycle parking. Staff were friendly and the five wanderers had an enjoyable evening.
