Waiting at Bromley South in over 30 degrees I wondered if anyone would turn up, but we were eight in the end, with the rest of you probably enjoying a cold drink and BBQ at home.

We kept the ride quite short tonight in light of the temperatures and wound our way up to Petts Wood via Jubilee Park and then on to Perry Hall Road and parallel to Court Road via the back roads to Goddington Park.  From here it was a short ride to The Five Bells and a very welcome drink.  On arrival we were greated with ‘let’s sit down quick before this mob get in’ and that, together with the slowness in opening the gate so we could get our bikes in the garden, we decided to move on to the Bo Peep just a short ride down the road.

On arrival we ignored the wisecrack from one of the customers of ‘my dog doesn’t like cyclists’ and settled down to enjoy a long cold drink.

We chatted away for the next few hours, some planning their ride to Dunwich on Saturday night.  Thinking some of our group were unable to go there was now some frantic last minute planning as we discovered that we were indeed now Dunwiching.

Leaving the pub around 10.45 it was a very pleasant, slightly cooler, mainly downhill home.
