Youth Velo Ride 12/1/13

Seven hardy soles arrived at the ‘Old village cafe’ for our first meeting of 2013

The weather forecast rain sleet and snow and a temperature high of 2 degrees, add in the windchill and that feels like -2.

We headed out to Coney Hall, Nash, Fickleshole and on to the top of the North Downs, before turning for home through Tatsfield and Westerham Hill.

By this time a couple of the youngsters were beginning to turn blue so a quick call to my mum and the Biggin Hill dance studio became a tea and warm
up stop. Suitably refreshed and with warm blood flowing through the veins we headed back to Hayes to conclude our first Youth Velo ride of the year.

I nearly cancelled the ride due to the weather conditions but had just read the ‘star’ letter in Cycling Weekly quoting a young Go Rider  who when asked if he was going to ride in the rain had replied ‘Bradley Wiggins would ride so so shall I’ !!!!!!! Cheers Brad for the motivation on a very cold wet Saturday in January, long may your warm glow influence the next generation.
