Last Sunday saw the first of Bromley Cyclists Sunday Sessions lead by Pete Nemestothy. This ride was not for the faint hearted as it was advertised as a faster than usual Sunday ride aiming to be back to Norman Park for lunch time.
Pete our ride leader advised that he was taking no prisioners and on this ride we were going to have a work out, and boy he was right. We set off out from Norman Park through Petts Wood heading out to St Marys Cray and Crockenhill, the pace was steady and faster than our usual 10-14mph, necessitating the need for us to think out riding “Peleton” Style!
Although the pace was brisk everyone on the ride done well and we all made it through Eynsford to our 1st stop, Lullingstone Castle for Coffee. It was here that we caught our breath over coffee and cake and discussed the rest of the ride ahead!
Pete advsed that it was now time to work, we had to negotiate the climb from Lullingstone Castle upward through Well Hill to Chelsfield. Although challenging, everyone encouraged each other and we were soon at the top. On wards and upwards were the words of encouragement from our ride leader Pete, and he meant it, off we set towards Orpington Station. From here was a “Peleton Party” all the way back through Bromley Common to Norman Park.
A big well done to Pete for leading, Nev, Paula, Spencer, Gareth, Steve B & Steve H. We certainly all felt we had worked hard.
To all followers of Bromley Cyclist this ride was a deviation from our usual Sunday rides. We aim to cater for cyclists at all levels, if there is a ride that you want us to lead or indeed another style of riding (Mountain Biking, Touring, relaxed social ride) please let us know.
