Saturday July 2nd : Andrew Fergar outside Bromley South Stn. 8.20 catching the 8.36 to Orpington changing onto the 8.56 to Sevenoaks, then change to the 9.12 to Pluckley.
We’re running this ’classic’ once again as it’s a perfect Saturday 50 miler, suitable for anyone who is at least reasonably fit, and it’s not too hilly. We’ll start at just before 10:00 from Pluckley, England’s most haunted village, go westwards through attractive villages such as Smarden, lovely wooded areas and open country, then cross the ‘isle’ of Oxney, once surrounded by water, now a ‘land island’ with great views towards the sea. We’ll stop after about 30 miles for lunch at a superb pub, The Ferryboat Inn at Appledore, then continue through more great country, woods etc, back to Pluckley, from where you can either take the train home or ride about a mile up to the ancient (and supposedly haunted) village pub, The Black Horse.
Ride Organised by Lewisham and Bromley Cyclists
