Adding to the success of the regular Bromley Cyclists rides we decided it would be a good idea to provide rides aimed at the slightly sportier cyclist, someone that still enjoys the social aspect of the sport and not quite into the dedicated ‘Lycra clad’ clubs out there.

We aim to continue in the same manner as usual, with the emphasis switched  slightly to focussing on the fitness side and still keeping the friendly supportive feel that is an important part of Bromley Cyclists.

We plan to provide rides that will keep you puffing a little more than usual and riding over the hills instead of around them. The rides will be predominantly on road ideally suited to road bikes and fast hybrids but we are here to attract and encourage members so keep an eye on the rides listed here and please come along on rides suitable to your fitness and ability.

We will also be providing a variety of rides, including mountain biking, recumbent rides and anything we fancy slinging a leg over, again the emphasis will be on getting the legs and lungs working and not being ‘die hard Tour de France riders’.

Many of our rides will still incorporate the all important cake stop, cup of tea and a chat with good company.

Rides will are listed below and will be updated regularly so keep an eye here for details.

Velo Club Ride…

0830 Saturday 11th February  departing from BCR Bikes.

We will be changing our usual ride format this week. The cold weather seems to put some people off so we will be heading out towards the Darenth Valley with the aim of building some leg strength.

We will keep the distance short with maybe a total of 15 miles but we will concentrate on riding as many hils as we can on our way out to our usual coffee stop. Not only will this be good training for the legs but it will also help to keep us warm.

With a few of our regulars away this week I’m hoping for a few new faces to keep the numbers up. If you’ve been thinking of coming out with us and don’t mind a few hills then we would love to see you.

These rides are aimed at cyclists looking to increase fitness, speed and distances.

If you are unsure if it is for you or would like further information then please get in touch.

* Please Note; There is parking available at the shop for those wishing to drive down.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Our original Brasted and Beyond route was altered last week as we had the company of Phil Cowburn’s “Mid Life Cyclists”  This week we will venture out for a 20ish mile ride heading out through the lanes to Knockholt, then onwards to the Tally Ho! From here we will whizz down to Brasted and then wind our way back along the lanes ending back at the shop.  Depending on the group, route and weather we will stop for tea and refreshments along the way.
