Active Travel Champions

I’m currently recruiting volunteers who love cycling and can help others in their community/ workplace/ university etc make more of their journeys by bike or foot. I’m hoping you might be able to get the word out in Bromely by letting your group know it’s happening and forwarding them on details.

It would be perfect if some of the London Cycling Campaign group members would come on board as I’m looking for people that genuinely love cycling (or walking) and can convey that enthusiasm to others!

The role is supported by Sustrans who provide the Active Travel Champions with a training programme, materials and one to one support. The Champions’ activities will vary from person to person but could include:

 •Organise a group ride/walk (training provided)

•Creating an information display board

•Giving a talk/presentation to colleagues

•Holding an information stand or advice clinic

•Plan a cycle maintenance session

It is a voluntary position (however any expenses are paid) and will involve a time commitment of up from 4 hours a month.

Active Travel Champions is one of the outstanding projects granted the London 2012 Inspire mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire programme which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.

The benefits of being an Active Travel Champion are:

 – Being part of London 2012

– Developing new skills

– Help improve lives and environments
