A group of around 35 met on this chilly morning for the start of Adam’s Challenge Ride No. 3. We split into two groups, A & B, I was in the A group this time, the A standing for At the back. We said goodbye to the faster boys and girls and set off on a gentle uphill towards Keston shortly before 10.00 am. I was surprised to see the improvement in many of our riders since Ride No. 1 and we were soon tackling those hills on our way up to The White Bear. Up to Woldingham we went, the sun shone and layers were soon coming off.
However, it was jolly cold on the downhills, especially Titsey HIll, and we were lucky to slow down enough ready for the left turn at the bottom. All morning Adam had been telling us about the really bad hill we would encounter around the half way mark and he wasn’t kidding. Along Pilgrims Way and then up Hogtrough Hill we went, some actually managed to cycle right up to the top, but many walked. Then it was on to Cudham Lane, Knockholt, down Rushmore hill and then back up to Burlings Lane.
Oh just one more big hill said Adam, before we got to Christmas Tree Farm, where we enjoyed our refreshments as we sat in the sunshine. Then a quick photoshoot before heading off to Downe, up the hill to the church at Keston and then back to Hayes.
Please check the website as Spencer will be doing some 30 mile rides in between if you want to keep up your training.
