Market on Beckenham Green

18 May 2013

We were kindly invited by Chloe-Jane of the Copers Cope Area Residents Association to have a pitch at the Market.

It was an invitation we could not refuse and at 10 am we gladly set up our stall in the very middle of the event.

We were very fortunate with the weather which although cold mercifully remained dry and mostly bright.

The good weather was clearly appreciated by the folk of Beckenham too; they turned up in their droves to view, taste, try and ultimately buy the local produce that was being offered. Musicians played, Morris Dancers danced, Singers sang and Bromley Cyclists promoted.

Interest in our pitch was intense we completely ran out of the getting started packs which were for use both today and at the Tour de Penge tomorrow. If just a quarter of the folk who stopped to talk to us about their interest in cycling turn out for some of our events we will truly be overwhelmed.

The stall was manned by Spencer with Jack and James, Tim, Yvonne and John; and they were non stop from opening time until the event closed at 4pm and afterwards too.

The market was very well organised and there were organisers on hand to support and assist throughout so our thanks to Chloe Jane and her team.

But our biggest thank you must go to Yvonne from Penge Cycle Club, who gave up her whole day to support us and was absolutely the star of our show – answering questions, providing information, giving encouragement to all enquirers with calm and reassuring confidence. Yvonne you were brilliant.
